Promoting Peter Stilwell to Operating Partner

We've built a firm we're extremely proud of, but change has always been part of our ethos since we started back in 2003. We feel quite confident that we've cracked how to run a venture firm at this point, but we've also realised that operating as we have done for the past 20 years will not be sufficient for building the firm we want to become over the next 20.

As Creandum has grown, so has the complexity of our operations. The industry is getting more aggressive. More global. Even faster. What worked brilliantly for us at one stage needs to evolve for the next. We know that investment excellence and operational leadership require different skillsets, and as our firm scales across four offices and multiple funds, we recognise the need for a dedicated operational leader to focus full-time on how we develop this side of the business.

Enter, Peter Stilwell.

Eighteen months ago, we brought on Peter to lead operations at Creandum as our COO, and it was one of the best investments we've ever made.

When we met Peter two years ago, we couldn’t have predicted the impact he would have in such a short space of time. Since he joined, Peter (or ‘Stilly’) has transformed how we work. Decisions happen faster, we're more deliberate about talent, and he's never afraid to ask the difficult questions - the kind that sometimes make us uncomfortable, but always push us forward.

Peter does what all the best partners do: he makes the people around him better, he challenges our assumptions, elevates our standards, and pushes us to operate like the firm we aspire to be. We feel very confident that promoting Peter is one of the most impactful decisions we could make when it comes to preparing ourselves for the next 10 years of growth at Creandum.
